Roma give up the chase for Barça target Gerson
Gerson Santos da Silva will be a Barcelona player within the coming days. The player has accepted the Blaugrana's offer and has declined that of Roma. The Italian club have given up the chase this week after realising that they cannot compete financially.
Roma have had many problems while trying to sign him and have decided to focus all of their efforts on a deal for Manchester City's Edin Dzeko. The rejected bid leaves Barça free to sort out the final details of the 12-million-euro deal.
The Blaugrana have the idea that Gerson will train with the team until January, which is the point at which he can play. It will be then that they decide whether the player will be loaned out, or alternatively if he will sign a professional deal. In this sense, the opinion of Luis Enrique will be key, as he will have more than four months to polish the Brazilian pearl.
