Robert travels to America to tell Mascherano he's not leaving Barça

The chances of Javier Mascherano joining Juventus this summer remain alive. This has led to Robert Fernandez making a move to end them.

Barcelona's sporting director travelled to the United States to meet with the player to make it clear that the club will do everything they can to make him feel valued. Mascherano is an essential part of Luis Enrique's team.

Robert was in Foxborough to see Argentina's 4-1 win over Venezuela in the Copa America quarter-final. After the game, he met with Mascherano - and also with Messi. He told the midfielder-cum-defender that they don't want him to leave and that they won't even name a price for Juventus, because they're only contemplating him remaining at Camp Nou.

Barça want Mascherano to be happy. And the player was left satisified after the meeting with Robert. Both will meet again to sort out a new contract for the Argentine international, whose exit was never a real possibility as fas as the club were concerned.

As for Messi, he offered him support for the Copa America campaign and wished him and Mascherano luck for the rest of the competition. He plans to do the same with Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, too, if there are no agenda problems.
