Rakitic: I would throw myself off a bridge for Luis Enrique

The Croatian highlighted the importance of Luis Enrique to his football career

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is having an up and down season. The Croatian has gone from being a regular to entering into Luis Enrique's rotations.

However, Rakitic still believes in his manager and remains grateful for the faith he showed in him when he signed him for Barça in 2014.

"Luis Enrique has helped me enormously," Rakitic told magazine France Football.

"He gave me confidence straight away, as did my teammates, which enabled me to work calmly.

"It's the 'Mister' who asked the club to sign me. If I had to throw myself off a bridge for him, I would do it without hesitation.

"With a look or a smile, he gives you the confidence necessary to succeed."

Rakitic has not started a league game since the Clasico draw with Real Madrid, although he did start the Copa del Rey defeat at Athletic Club at the beginning of the year.

With Rafinha's injury, he may come into the side for Real Sociedad on Thursday, although Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez are also options.
