The midfielder explained how Mascherano ended up taking the penalty

He also insisted there is no need to worry about what Real Madrid are doing

It was Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic that allowed Javier Mascherano the chance to score his first goal for the club, the Argentine scoring a penalty in the 7-1 win against Osasuna.

After the game, Rakitic was asked how it came about that he handed over the penalty to Mascherano.

"I wanted to take it, but Pique said to let Mascherano take it and he was right -- you have to listen to the president. I think it was perfect," the Croatian said.

On the title race, he added: "We have to focus on ourselves and not think about Real Madrid. We must focus on our games, win them all and then have faith that they have tough games and anything can happen. We just have to win are own games.

And with a derby to come against Espanyol on Saturday, he concludeD: "All games are tough now, given everyone is fighting for their own targets. There are no easy games. I'm sure they will want to win, but we will try to be at our best and win."
