Olympic champion Rafinha misses first day back in Barcelona training due to illness

Barcelona returned to training on Wednesday morning after two days of holiday afforded by Luis Enrique, although Rafinha was unable to take part in the day's session.

The Olympic champion was scheduled to take part in a preparatory training session ahead of Barça's game against Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, but the Brazilian, who is suffering from a cold, was unable to participate.

Rafinha went to the Ciutat Esportiva where he was reunited with the rest of the squad but was given a day's rest after receiving the advice of club doctors.

Returning to Catalonia after the conclusion of the Rio Olympic Games, the 23-year-old wanted to get back to work as soon as possible aware that finding a significant squad role this season will be complicated now more than ever.

Luis Enrique took the opportunity to call up Barça B goalkeeper Jose Suarez due to Claudio Bravo leaving to complete his move to Manchester City on Tuesday, while Alex Carbonell also participated after already training and playing with the first team in pre-season.
