Barça take Luis Suarez's Copa del Rey final ban to the CAS

The Catalan club are fighting so that he can play in the final against Alaves in May

Barcelona will take Luis Suarez's Copa del Rey suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The Uruguayan striker was handed a two-game ban after the semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.

The first game is for picking up two yellow cards and the second is for his actions after being dismissed.

However, Barça do not agree with the second yellow card he was awarded and will continue to fight it in a bid to free him to play in the final against Alaves in May.

"After the Appeals Committee rejected FC Barcelona’s claim against the two-match suspension of Luis Suárez, the Club shall be referring the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)," a statement read.

"The Uruguayan was shown two yellow cards in the final minutes of the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final against Atlético Madrid.

"The appeal is based on the argument that the player never struck the opposing player “in a reckless manner” as stated in the match official’s report."
