Jeremy Mathieu was left out of the squad for Barcelona vs Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
Despite receiving medical clearance to play on January 4, ahead of the first leg clash with the Basque side, Mathieu has not been included in a squad by coach Luis Enrique, for either that game or the league battle with Villarreal.
Mathieu got injured in the Super Cup of Catalonia which Barcelona lost 1-0 to Espanyol, after a tackle by Demichelis. Mathieu missed nine games with his injury.
He previously picked up an injury during a friendly between France and Russia. He has only participated in six of Barcelona's 27 games this season - 421 minutes of play, 1 goal.
