Pique: I would have no problem going for dinner with Arbeloa

Gerard Pique says he would not mind going to dinner with Alvaro Arbeloa, the Real Madrid player with whom he has exchanged heated messages on Twitter throughout the season.

In an interview which appears on Marca’s website, Pique responded to the question about the Spanish full-back: “I would have not problem - I’ve had dinner with him many times before. We have been together with the Spain team and there is no problem.”

And when he was asked if it was more a ‘media show’ than a real problem between the two, he replied: “I don’t know. But that has nothing to do with sporting matters. Let’s talk about football.”

He didn’t want to refer, therefore, to the time when he called Arbeloa a ‘cono…cido’ in the mixed zone after a Barcelona win

THE DOUBLE

The Catalan defender also spoke about Barça’s season, saying it would be amazing to win the double.

He added: “We’ve had really good results, really inflated [scorelines] and there are now four official games left. If we win them, we win the double. The double is amazing. This is the objective and the work that awaits us until the end of the season.

“We passed through a rough patch at the worst moment and we had bad results, but I believe we didn’t play that badly to deserve the bad run that we had.”

On the Champions League, he opined: “Real Madrid are the favourites [to beat Manchester City]. In the other tie, Atletico had a good result, but it will be difficult [in Germany] because Bayern will put a lot of pressure on.”
