Gerard Pique a doubt for Anoeta after missing Barcelona training

Luis Enrique will have to make a late decision on the inclusion of his centre-back this weekend

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique didn’t take part in training on Friday as the team prepared for Sunday’s game in San Sebastian against Real Sociedad.

The player returned from an ankle injury against Malaga (0-0) last weekend and Luis Enrique may reserve him thinking about Real Madrid on Dec. 3 at Camp Nou.

Pique, in the game against Malaga, took a knock on his foot (a stamp) which left him out of training before the Celtic game. It didn’t keep him out of the game at Celtic Park, though, which Barça won 2-0 to secure their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.

However, the centre-back did not finish that game. He was taken off in the 72nd minute with the game won for the debutant Marlon. Luis Enrique explained after that Pique had taken a knock on his calf, this time. Alarm bells are now ringing after he missed training on Friday.

Barça will train again on Saturday and everything indicates that Luis Enrique will call up Pique for Sunday’s game at Anoeta (20.45h CET), although it remains to be seen if he will start or if the Barça boss will have next weekend’s Clasico against Madrid in the back of his mind.
