Pique and Arbeloa pick up feud after Barça lose to La Real

Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa took advantage of Barcelona’s loss to Real Sociedad to pick up his feud with the Catalan club.

After the result he posted a message on his Twitter account saying: “How difficult it is to win against 11 men! Great games from Illarramendi and Granero - promise fulfilled. Congratulations!”

The Madrid man’s comments were made with reference to the fact Barça came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid in the Champions League after Fernando Torres had been sent off in the first half.

Arbeloa’s main gripe, of course, has been with Pique, with the two former Spain team-mates exchanging messages throughout the current season.

In the mixed zone after the defeat at Anoeta, Pique was asked for a response to Arbelos’s tweet.

He replied: “A player that has played once in 32 does not deserve a response.”

And Arbeloa was quick to reply, quote tweeting the comment with the caption: “Well, [Pique] was right. What a film. The truth hurts.”

That was in relation to a tweet posted by Pique after Madrid had lost to Wolfsburg, saying he’d spent the night watching the Will Smith film Concussion which is called La verdad duele in Spanish - The truth hurts.

Pique’s response to that tweet was to call Arbeloa up on his punctuation, as he missed out an accent on one of the words.
