Pepe: Pique sometimes gets carried away with what he says

Portuguese defender Pepe has said that Gerard Pique "sometimes gets carried away with what he says off the pitch, sometimes he could avoid it."

The Real Madrid defender was speaking to El Larguero on Cadena Ser on Monday night.

He added: "I don't know him, but as a player, he's a really good player. I like his way of playing. He has quality.

"As for Barça's public relations, he sometimes gets carried away, like me on the pitch a few years ago. It's his thing, but from outside I think he could avoid all that."

Pepe was also asked which Barça player he'd sign for Real Madrid. After thinking for a few moments, he said: "No, I think we're alright... Andre Gomes? Yes, we played together in the national team, but he wanted to go to Barcelona."

He also spoke about his attack on Casquero against Getafe several years ago: "I don't know what came over me. I always went for the ball but something took over and I didn't stop. It wasn't good on my behalf, when I came down from the dressing room my wife said to me: What have you done?

"Maybe with Mourinho we went out more fired up in that way. But I don't remember the last time I got a red card. I'm in the best moment of my career. I'd like to be remembered for being a good, happy person."

On the current Madrid side he continued: "We have the BBC [Bale, Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo]... and Morata! Moratita is already won of the best forwards in Europe. We want to compete for all three titles."

Finally, he spoke about Raul, who has been criticised for appearing at the opening of Barcelona's New York office.

"For me, I'm proud that Raul occupies that position [as La Liga's American ambassador]. I don't see anything bad in him going to the Barcelona event."
