Pelé analyses the changes at Barça in an interview with Marca
Pelé, the Brazilian legend, has talked about Paulinho, Barça’s new signing, for the first time. In an interview given to Marca and reproduced in Four Four Two Pelé praised the midfielder’s quality.
“Barcelona have suffered some changes this summer but I’m sure that Paulinho will surprise a lot of people with his strength and his personality”. Pelé explained, “When he went to play in China, he had offers from Germany, from Italy… but he went to China because it’s now the agents who decide where a player should play, it’s them who sell the players. The fans might think he’s not a very good player because he was in China but if he was there it was because he had no choice. It’s different to my case, I could decide and decided to stay in Brazil”.
With regard to Neymar and his move to PSG, Pelé said “I think it’s a good move for him because he has a lot of competition with Messi at Barça. It’s a good opportunity, he needed to move because now he can show what he’s capable of. Although that responsibility can also be dangerous”.
