Palmeiras starlet Gabriel Jesus: To go to Barcelona would be a dream

Barcelona are going for Gabriel Jesus, the only forward in Brazilian football currently tipped for big things. At 19, the teenage starlet is already impressing at Palmeiras and winning fans in Europe. Among those fans are Barça, who are keen to win the bidding for the player ahead of Juventus.

SPORT, who first revealed the Catalan club's interest in Gabriel Jesus, had the opportunity to be at Palmeiras' league game against Santa Cruz (3-1). Barça have already made an offer of 19 million euros, plus five million more in variables and the player, who will feature alongside Neymar at the Olympics has shown his excitement at the Blaugrana's interest: "To go to Barça would be a dream," he said, after reiterating his love for his current club, where he's come through the academy.

Gabriel Jesus won't let the opportunity to move to Camp Nou pass. He owns 15 per of his own rights and will do all he can to move to Barcelona, aware that his style of play fits in with the Catalan club's philosophy. Barça is not a challenge which scares him. "I am aware of my conditions, I know what my potential is and what I can give," he explained.

The player is in great form: "I am working really hard. I push myself to the limit to do what I most like doing, which is playing football. I'm really enjoying myself."

Gabriel Jesus has his head screwed on and is surrounded by family and agents who want to take care of his career. He made it clear, though, that he will have the final word: "I have the best family possible and I receive the best guidance. I really trust in them, they've always advised me throughout my life... but it's me who takes the decisions."

The presence of Barcelona director Raül Sanllehí in Sao Paulo will accelerate the talks. This week could see some important steps made. Barça's intention is to have things tied up as soon as possible.
