Paco Alcacer's farewell message to Valencia and their fans

Paco Alcacer, confirmed as FC Barcelona's sixth summer signing this Tuesday, has said goodbye to Valencia through an official statement posted on the club's website, with an accompanying video.

The forward provides his motives for deciding to leave the Mestalla, and states he "will always carry Valencia CF in my heart".

"There was an offer from FC Barcelona for me, and I was sincere with the president. I asked her to consider it, because I think that it was good for me and if they reached an agreement, my intention was to leave.

"In the end, it is an important step in my career."

He added: "I think it is a good decision, as much for me as for the club. Good for both."

Regarding the fans, he comments: "Some will understand and others will not, but I take this decision personally because it is good for me and for the club.

"In the end, people have to understand the decisions of others and respect them. They can take it well or badly, but I will always respect Valencia as I have done up to now."

Alcacer's farewell includes a thought for all those who have helped him grow as a person and footballer:

"I thank the technical staff, of this season and previous ones, because since the age of 11 when I joined, I have learned something new every year and have had the possibility to be a professional footballer.

"I owe everything to Valencia. My heart has always been 'valencianista' since I came here and until now that I leave.

"I will try to go to the ground to see the team whenever I can. I will always have Valencia in my heart."

Valencia, for their part, "wish Paco Alcacer the best of luck in this new chapter of his life and career, and thank him for his professionalism, performance and commitment during his time at the club."
