The chosen one: Paco Alcacer will be FC Barcelona's fourth striker

The transfer of Paco Alcacer to Barcelona is advanced but there has been nothing signed between the two clubs yet. SPORT revealed the interest in the forward and negotiations took place on Friday, with Barcelona hoping to complete a surprise signing like that of Andre Gomes.

The operation is going well and the forward has given Barcelona the thumbs up to sign for the next five seasons. He knows it will be an important challenge, accepting the role of fourth striker and knowing he has to fight to make it into the side. His transfer would be a big hit on the market by Barcelona.

Barcelona's sporting director Robert Fernandez and Suso Garcia Pitarch, his Valencia counterpart, were in charge of the deal. Los Che had not been willing to listen to offers for the footballer but there was a meeting on Friday morning with Peter Lim where a verbal agreement was made.

What seems clear is that the transfer is not likely to be announced before the first leg of the Super Cup. There are still details to agree, but it's all on path. And the most important thing is that the player is convinced he can succeed at Barcelona.
