One year since Lionel Messi scored away from Camp Nou in Champions League
Nov. 23 against Celtic was Messi's last away goal in Europe

Wednesday's game between Juventus and Barcelona, the fifth in the Champions League group stages this season, is important for Lionel Messi. The Argentine has not scored away from Camp Nou in Europe for a year.
The last time Messi found the net on the away side in the Champions League was on Nov. 23, 2016, in Glasgow as Barça beat Celtic 2-0 with both goals from the No.10.
The first came in the 24th minute after an assist from Neymar and the second in the 56th from the penalty spot. Craig Gordan was the last goalkeeper to concede from Messi in Europe not at Camp Nou.
Since then, Messi's not been able to come up trumps. He was unable to score last season in the latter rounds at Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus and also this season in group games against Sporting Club and Olympiakos:

Messi made his debut in the Champions League on Dec. 7, 2004, but was unable to score against Shakhtar Donetsk. Nor could he manage it at the grounds of Werder Bremen, Panathinaikos or Chelsea (2005-06).
His first goal away from Camp Nou came in Bremen (1-1) in the 2006-07 season, in concrete on Sep. 27, 2006. Since then he's scored in Stuttgart, Glasgow (three visits), Donetsk (two visits), Basel, Lisbon, Kiev, Copenhagen, Athens, Minsk, Prague, Milan (two visits), Leverkusen (two visits), Moscow, París (two visits), Manchester (two visits), Amsterdam, Nicosia and London.
