One week for Barça to sign Nolito and Denis Suarez
Barcelona have a week to seal the signings of Nolito and Denis Suarez. The winter window slams shut on Friday January 29, and those are Luis Enrique's targets to bolster his attack.
They have been interested in them for some time, but closing deals with Celta Vigo and Villarreal has proven harder than forecast and the chances of them arriving at Camp Nou have become more complicated.
Robert Fernandez, Barcelona's sporting director, was at Cornella El Prat to watch Suarez again. He may also have spoken to Villarreal directors at the game. The operation is currently stuck because coach Marcelino wants a replacement and Madrid won't let them have Cheryshev.
Nolito's transfer has more chance of success. Celta only want to make sure they will get his €18m release fee clause, now or at the end of the season.
The unique obstacle is Barcelona need to find a way to pay it after June 30, to avoid it being put on this season's economic balance.
Nolito has been injured and left out of the Celta squad recently, and his hoping the deal is sealed. He has told his club he wants to go to Barcelona and they know it doesn't make sense to keep a footballer who is not content.
