Olympique Lyonnais slaps a 32 million euros price tag on Barça target Umtiti

Barça's protracted signing of Samuel Umtiti has grinded to a halt after Olympique Lyonnais informed the club that they want 32 million euros for the player.

The positions of all parties involved are defined: Umtiti wants to leave Lyon, Barça are interested in the player and the French club require a figure seen as too excessive by the Blaugrana.

For a reasonable price, Barça will play their cards in an attempt to instigate a move, but Lyon are not making a deal easy to reach. Lyon's president, Jean Michal Aulas, said that the club don't want to impede the 22-year-old but are in position where they don't have financial needs.

Umtiti is willing to sign a five-year contract and Barça are prepared to pay 20 million plus five million in variables.

"We have been clear that we don't want to sell Samuel," Lyon coach Bruno Genesio said on Thursday, "When a player has a desire [to leave] it's very difficult to resist but it's clear that he's a Lyon player and, for now, will remain so."

The differences between Umtiti and his parent club are significant, but not insurmountable. Until he finishes his involvement with France at Euro 2016, no significant developments are expected
