Dembele will travel to Finland for surgery after rupturing a tendon

He picked up the injury in Saturday's 2-1 win over Getafe in La Liga

Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele will have to undergo surgery and is set for four months out of action after rupturing a tendon against Getafe on Saturday.

Demeble was forced off after 25 minutes of the game at Getafe, but no one expected the injury would be so serious.

A statement from Barça on Sunday read: "Tests have confirmed that first team player Ousmane Dembele has ruptured the tendon in his femoral bicep in his left thigh.

"The player will be operated on by Dr. Sakari Orava in Finland this week. He is expected to be out for between three and a half months and four months."

It comes as the 20-year-old was adapting to life at the club following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund.

Dembele, therefore, is unlikely to play again for Barcelona until 2018.
