OFFICIAL: Lionel Messi will be out for up to eight weeks with knee injury

Barcelona star Lionel Messi will be out of action for almost two months. The Argentine forward injured his knee in a clash with Pedro Bigas during Barça’s game with Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon.

FC Barcelona confirmed the news with a press release immediately after the match: “Tests have confirmed that Leo Messi has suffered a tear to the ligament in his knee and will be out for approximately seven or eight weeks.”

Messi left the Camp Nou pitch and immediately made his way to hospital for a scan and tests to determine the nature and extent of the injury.

With the length of time he’s expected to be out, he would be back just in time for the Clasico against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu (November 21). However, he will miss matches against Sevilla and Villarreal and several more in the Champions League.
