Barça complete the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen

Barcelona have officially announced the signing of Ajax goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen on a five-year contract.

The 27-year-old is tied to the Spanish champions until the 2020/21 season and joins for a fee of 13 million euros.

Cillessen represented Dutch clubs De Treffers, NEC Nijmegen and Ajax before completing his move to the Camp Nou.

One of the most memorable moments of his career came during the 2014 World Cup when former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal replaced Cillessen for Tim Krul during a penalty shootout win over Costa Rica.

The player travelled to Barcelona from Russia early on Thursday morning having played for Ajax in their Champions League play-off defeat to Rostov on Wednesday.

Cillessen then passed his medical examination and, after the conclusion of all his physical tests, Barça officially announced his arrival.

Shortly before the announcement of the club, Cillessen posted a picture of himself already wearing the Blaugrana shirt.

His presentation at the Camp Nou and first press conference as a Barça player will take place on Friday.
