Official: Barça extends sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways

Barça have announced that the club has reached an agreement with Qatar Airways to extend their sponsorship agreement for an additional year until the end of the 2016/17 season.

The deal was signed under the same conditions as the last contract, and thus the Catalan club will receive less than the 65 million euros wants but have given themselves an extra year to negotiate a better deal with a new sponsor.

According to information given to SPORT, the total transaction will be between 35 million and 40 million euros.

Manel Arroyo, Barça's vice president and head of marketing and communication, and Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways' CEO, signed the new contract on behalf of both parties.

"Qatar Airways has helped us to make Barça bigger in recent years," said Arroyo, "The successes that have accompanied the club are partly because of this.

"It's a pleasure to work together for one more season and we hope to continue the same progression of growth mutually."

Al Baker added: "Three years ago we established an iconic association with a sports club of this size. We're very proud and it's a great honour to continue this relationship and we hope to have a great season [together]."
