Nuno Espirito Santo says Valencia leave Camp Nou sad despite display

Valencia boss Nuno Espirto Santo says it is scant consolation to play well if you don't pick up points in the process after his side were beaten 2-0 by Barcelona on Saturday.

Luis Suarez gave Barcelona a first minute lead in the Camp Nou sunshine, but Los Che responded immediately and created chance after chance in a first half which they completely dominated.

However, they were unable to find their way back into a game, with Dani Parejo wasting their best chance from the penalty spot.

"We played well in the first half, we created chance after chance, but we leave sad," Nuno said after Lionel Messi's stoppage time goal wrapped up the points for Barça.

"I'm proud of my players, but I am not satisfied. We pressed well, generated openings and did a lot of good work... but we lost.

"You have to get points, though, In football, that is what matters."

Barcelona did take more control in the second half, with Ivan Rakitic replacing Adriano at the break, and Nuno pointed out the quality in midfield made a difference.

He also acknowledged that Valencia were unable to keep up their intensity for the whole match.

"[Barca] had more possession in the second half. Messi, Xavi, Rakitic... there was a lot of quality keeping the ball.

"We dropped our level after 70 minutes, physically we weren't able to maintain the level we had set in the first half and we lost our capacity to press."
