Neymar will be fit for Club World Cup final, says his father

Neymar should make the Club World Cup final, his father has said in an interview with ESPN Brazil.

The Barcelona star injured his groin in a training session on Tuesday at the BayArean ahead of the match with Bayer Leverkusen.

He will miss Wednesday’s game against the German side - although that is not a major problem as Luis Enrique’s side have already progressed as group winners.

However, he could also miss Saturday’s game with Deportivo La Coruna and the semi-final of the Club World Cup in Japan later this month.

“It's an injury like any other level two injury,” Neymar Sr. said.

“It will keep Neymar out of action for at least one week.

“I believe he will be OK for the [Club World Cup] final, the semi-final [I’m not so sure].

“He will work hard, though, to recover soon as possible.”

Neymar is currently the top scored in La Liga with 14 goals and was recently named on the three-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or, along with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He missed the early part of the season after contracting mumps, so this is the second time he has been sidelined.
