Neymar: When Lionel Messi plays, everyone plays better

Neymar hailed the impact of Lionel Messi after the Argentine came off the bench to help Barcelona beat Atletico Madrid on Saturday night.

Messi was left out of Luis Enrique's starting lineup because he hadn't trained with the team all week, partly because of his committment to his national side and partly because of the birth of his second son on Friday.

However, he came on with half an hour to play, shortly after Neymar had levelled Fernando Torres's opening goal, and went on to score the winning goal.

"When the best plays, everyone ends up playing better," Neymar said when asked about Messi's contribution to Barça's three points.

Atletico Madrid defender Atletico Madrid added: "Messi gives something extra to Barça, we know he makes the difference."

Neymar also spoke about swapping shirts with Atletico's French star Antoine Griezmann after the game.

"He's a crack, a special player," he said. "It's a shirt I wanted to have."
