Neymar: The worst moment of my career was Zuniga's challenge

Just over two years have passed since the whole of Brazil came to a standstill, as Neymar was painfully ruled out of the remainder of the 2014 World Cup after picking up a back injury against Colombia.

The Verde-Amarelha went on to win the quarter-final encounter 2-1, but the night was remembered for the horrific action that saw the talisman of the country leave the pitch and thus ended his dreams of becoming a world champion.

It was Juan Camilo Zuniga's firm challenge into Neymar's back that could've ended his career and left the 24-year-old in a quadriplegic state.

"I've had bad times during my career, but the worst moment that affected me the most was in the 2014 World Cup [against Colombia]," the Brazilian said, "The dream of my childhood was to be world champion. but because of the injury [Zuniga] could've ended my career.

"It was a very difficult week, but luckily I had my family and friends by my side. It's important to have the support of your people in these moments."

Brazil were without both Neymar and Thiago Silva for the semi-finals and, subsequently, crashed out of the tournament in embarrassing fashion as Luiz Felipe Scolari's team lost 7-1 to eventual World Cup winners Germany.
