Neymar supports Messi: "Football, without Leo, is not football"
After nearly a month away from the media's focus (though still active on social media), Neymar Jr has spoken again to the press.
In Brazil, the Barça forward made comments during a publicity event this Saturday at the Neymar Institute, located in Praia Grande.
He had a message of support for Leo Messi and also showed his happiness at renewing his Barça contract.
He said, in reference to the sentence received by Messi in his tax fraud case: "Messi is not only my friend, he is also my idol, and I will always support him. I can imagine what he is going through."
He also provided his opinion on Leo's decision to quit international football: "I respect his decisions. But football, without Leo, is not football. It is very difficult to conceive of football without Leo.
For those who like football, it is impossible to not like what Messi does for Barça and his national team."
On an individual level, the Brazilian made his first public comments about his new Barça deal: "I am very happy. It is true that there were various proposals, but my wish has always been to stay."
It had been reported that PSG were interested in Neymar before he signed his renewal at Camp Nou.
The player is enjoying the last days of his summer holiday before joining the Brazilian squad for the Olympic Games in Rio.
