New tax issue the last hurdle for Neymar's renewal

Neymar and Barça have already reached an agreement to extend the player's contract until 2022, but there is now another obstacle that stands in the way of the deal being finalised.

ARA published on Wednesday that the player's father, Neymar Sr, and the Blaugrana are still negotiating not the quantity of his son's wages - 15 million euros net annually - but how that money will be paid.

Negotiations have entered a fiscal phase to avoid at all costs the possibility of both sides falling foul of tax regulations once again. Barça remain wary of the fact that Neymar's first contract at the club brought plenty of problems that ultimately led to a lengthy court case and a fine for their troubles.

Barça have made Neymar's future a priority given his potential suitors Paris Saint-Germain continue to tempt the 24-year-old with their financial power, and the club won't finalise any other transfers until the renewal of their no.11 is completed.
