New AFA boss will meet with Leo Messi in Barcelona

Armando Perez, the new man in charge at the Argentine Football Association (AFA), is planning to travel soon to Barcelona to speak to Leo Messi, captain of Argentina's national team.

Now that Perez has assumed the presidency of Argentine football, one of his main challenges is to convince Messi to reconsider his intention to retire from the international game.

He will present his credentials to the Barça star, and speak with him about returning to the Argentine squad, which is currently without a manager, following the resignation of Tata Martino.

Replacing Martino is precisely one of the other tasks that Perez must handle, and it would not be a bad idea for him to consult with Messi, and other key figures in the team, regarding the profile of the new coach.

Speaking about the Messi situation, the AFA chief said:

"It is essential to listen to him.

"He has withdrawn from the national team and we are going to try to convince him to return".
