Munir El Haddadi and Barcelona's €12million problem

Munir El Haddadi, still just an 18-year-old, is the new 'star' of Barcelona. His great pre-season and his spectacular debut in the Primera Division, with a great goal included, has led to admiration from cules and from the rest of the world - and also from the teams that scout for talent in Barça youth teams.

Munir, who at the moment only has a youth contract with a release clause of €12million, has become the objects of desire across European football.

There is no need to get carried away, however, or go crazy, but even Luis Enrique said on Sunday that Munir has "burned in at a rapid pace."

The reality is the teenager has broken onto this scene this year with such velocity that Barça are now having to look into making sure nobody can "rob" their new jewell.

One way of doing this, and the easiest way, would be to sign Munir to the first team, with an automatic release clause of €35m. However that would ruin Enrique's idea of alternating him between Barça and Barça B.

It's a decision which is both complicated and risky: to allow him to grow between the two teams comes with danger, but to add him to the first team squad permanently could reduce his playing time...
