More praise from Sevilla coach Sampaoli for Barça star Messi
The Argentine is preparing his side for Monday's game against Alaves as they look to keep up with the leaders
Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli spoke to the press on Sunday ahead of Monday’s League match against Alaves, which closes the 26th round of fixtures in La Liga.
During his press conference, Sampaoli, who’s among the candidates to replace Luis Enrique on the Barcelona each, spoke about Barcelona, but also about Lionel Messi.
Sampaoli, who indicated that “what we must appraise is to be [up there] together with [Real] Madrid and Barça for so long,” one again praised Messi, Barcelona’s Argentine star.
“When Messi is stimulated, he can do what he wants. He’s so decisive and different that he makes these differences,” the Sevilla coach said.
However, Sampaoli did not want to speak about Barcelona’s reported interest in him taking over from Luis Enrique in the summer.
He added: “Messi’s performance against Celta and his ‘phone call’ gesture? No, it wasn’t directed at me.”
The Argentine coach is focused on keeping Sevilla in the title race and the Champions League, with the second leg of their round-of-16 against Leicester City to come soon.
