Mboula joins the Ligue 1 champions on a five-year deal

He has bid goodby to Barça in a letter via his Twitter account

Monaco have confirmed the signing of Jordi Mboula, one of the stars of Barcelona's academy. The 18-year-old has decided to accept the challenge from the Ligue 1 club, who have offered him more guarantees of first team football. He has signed a five-year deal until 2022. 

Mboula will cost Monaco three million euros, which was his release clause. In the official announcment, the French club highlight the teenager's performances in the Youth League this season, where he scored eight goals, including a fine solo goal against Borussia Dortmund. 

PRAISED BY THE PRESIDENT 

The club have given a lot of importance to the signing, to the point that president Vadim Vasilyev said: "This signing is in line with out policy of developing players. We offer a good environment to continue progression, as seen with Bernardo Silva, Fabinho and Bakayoko."

GOODBYE LETTER 

Meanwhile, Mboula said goodbye to Barça through a letter on his Twitter accound: "I am very proud to have defended the Barcelona shirt since I was nine year old. I will always be in debt to the club." 

However, he added that he could not turn down a "new challenge" and wants to take advantage of the chance to "perform as a player at one of Europe's biggest clubs." 

To conclude, the forward said he wanted to thank "all the people that have helped and supported him at Barcelona, especially my team-mates who have left a mark on my heart and millions of memories."
