Iniesta is out of contract next summer and has not yet renewed

Barça have offered a new deal but the captain has some doubts

Pep Guardiola has made contact with Andres Iniesta with the idea of signing the Barcelona captain, whose contract with the Catalan club ends next summer.

This is what is being reported by the Metro in England, who say that Guardiola's trying to convince the Spanish midfielder to join him at Manchester City.

Iniesta, 33, currently has doubts over his future. The player has an offer to renew on the table from Barça but has still not decided what to do. He wants to see how the immediate future pans out before making a decision.

The past year has not been great for Iniesta due to injury problems and the amount of times Luis Enrique to reserve him, keeping him fresh for the bigger games.

Despite that, he was still one of the best players in the Copa del Rey final against Alaves, with perhaps only Lionel Messi better than him as Barça won 3-1, winning their only trophy of the regular season.
