Messi's fake restaurant bill: Barça star didn't buy 41 bottles of Dom Perignon

A receipt was circulated claiming Messi had spent almost 40,000 euros

The Argentine took to Instagram to laugh of the rumour of his lavish night

Lionel Messi felt obliged -- albeit in good humour -- to deny a supposed restaurant bill attributed to him Luis Suarez, Cesc Fabregas and their respective families.

The bill claimed that over 37,000 euros had been spent on food and drink, including a significant amount on 41 bottles of Dom Perignon champagne.

Images of the bill quickly circulared on social media, which as well as the Dom Perignon featured pizzas, burgers and a number of other food and drink items.

However, Messi felt inclined to reveal that the bill was, in fact, nothing to do with him:

The Barcelona star wrote on Instagram: "Hahahahaha what a way to kick up a fuss. How they invent [things]... the nicest thing is that people believe it."

After Messi's comment, Juez Central, who had uploaded the image, deleted it and apologised to the Argentina international:
