Messi's contract already with Barça's legal advisors
Once it has been approved by both parties, the club's legal department will hold the contract until it is signed
The document approved by the player and the club will be signed by Leo and Bartomeu after 15 July
The contract that will keep Leo Messi at FC Barcelona is being reviewed by the club’s legal advisors. After discreet but prolonged negotiations, both parties have given the green light to the agreement that will be signed by Messi and Barça president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, after 15 July.
After reaching an agreement for Messi's contract to run until 2022, when Leo will be 35, Barça wanted to end for the end of the 2016/17 season so that the renewal would take effect from 1 July 2017 for accounting purposes.
The contract will be signed after 15 July when Messi will be back in Barcelona and in pre-season.
