Messi warned: Don't risk Clasico comeback

The presence of Lionel Messi in the Clasico continues to be a huge doubt - and he has now been warned against playing against Real Madrid by the Argentina team doctor.

In quotes to Cadena SER, Homero De Agostina says the 28-year-old would be taking a big gamble if he decided to turn out at the Santiago Bernabeu next Saturday.

He said: “The risk of a relapse if Messi plays the Clasico is elevated.”

Homero said he can’t imagine the forward “can be ready in time for the Clasico. The coach [Luis Enrique] cannot have confidence in a player who has only just recovered [from a two month injury].”

Messi, who injured his knee ligaments against Las Palmas in September, has only this week been able to touch the ball again.

“It’s not just a physical problem, but also a football one [because of so much time out]. Even though it’s Messi, he has to recover his rhythm with the ball, too,” Homero added.
