Messi takes the day off - but there's no reason to worry
Lionel Messi is totally recovered from the small kidney procedure he underwent on Tuesday to help him get over the kidney stone problem he’s had since the Club World Cup in December.
However, Barcelona’s medical team preferred to err on the side of caution, so the Argentine did not take part in Wednesday morning’s training session ahead of the game with Valencia in Copa del Rey.
Busquets, Iniesta, Turan, Mascherano, Pique, Bravo, Neymar, Suarez and Alba - none of whom will travel to Mestalla either - did take part in a workout on the pitch at the Ciutat Esportiva, though.
In fact, the medics gave Messi permission to stay at home resting, so he didn’t even head to the club’s training centre.
The club insist it is no reason for concern, highlighting that Messi will take part in Thursday’s session as normal as Barcelona prepare for Sunday’s La Liga game against Celta Vigo.
