Messi: Suarez deserved Ballon d'Or nomination
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi reflected on being named as a Ballon d’Or finalist along with Neymar and Cristiano Ronaldo, suggesting Luis Suarez was also worthy of being among the final three.
“I am happy to be among the three best once again and to go to another gala,” he said.
“I’m happy to be with Neymar. Luis Suarez also deserved to be among the three best, but you can’t take any credit away from Ronaldo, who also deserves to be there.”
Messi was speaking at the LFP awards where he was named as the best forward and the best player in La Liga.
On those awards, he added: “I’m happy with these prizes, with this recognition.
“I think that after the titles we won, we deserved this recognition - maybe even more. But we are grateful and happy.”
On Barcelona’s current situation, the Argentina international hopes the team can continue to hit their targets and said the next objective is to win the Club World Cup in Japan - “a very important” trophy.
