Messi returns to training and will be fit for Sporting's visit

Lionel Messi, who missed training on Thursday, was back in action on Friday as Barcelona stepped up their preparation for the visit of Sporting Gijon this weekend. 

The Argentine will be fine to take part in La Liga game, with Barça once again obliged to win after seeing their nine point lead at the top disappear. 

Luis Enrique was able to work with the majority of his first team squad ahead of the game, with the exception of the injured Jeremy Mathieu, Sandro Ramirez and Thomas Vermaelen. 

Barça B defender Borja Lopez, who is banned this weekend and cannot play for Gerard Lopez's side, made up the numbers in the session. 

Gerard Pique will return for the Sporting game after missing the trip to Deportivo La Coruna suspended.
