Messi, Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo nominated for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award
The three nominees were selected by 80 managers and 55 sports jourrnalist
The winner will be announced at the draw for the group stage of the Champions League on 24 August
Leo Messi, Gianluigi Buffon and Cristiano Ronaldo are the three candidates for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award, UEFA announced today.
The three nominees were voted for by the 80 managers of the clubs that participated in the group stage of the Champions League and Europa League and 55 sport journalists, one from each UEFA member country. The managers could not vote for their own player.
These three were followed by, in order: Luka Modric (Real Madrid), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid), Paulo Dybala (Juventus), Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid), Kylian Mbappé (Mónaco), Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Múnich) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Manchester United).
The winner will be announced at the draw for the group stages of the Champions League to be held in Monaco on 24 August.
