Messi: Barcelona will fight to win everything again

Lionel Messi has another individual trophy to add to his collection after being named the best player of the year by Goal in their 'Goal 50'

Speaking to Goal, Messi was asked about his best moments of the year.

"It was a very complete year in which I enjoyed a lot of success and we reached all of our goals," he said.

"I can't choose just three moments - I choose the whole year, it was wonderful."

However, despite Messi being key in many moments throughout the past year, he says he's more focused on team awards than individual ones.

He's also hoping of winning everything again this season.

"For me, the most important awards are the collective ones, the ones that recognise us as the best at the end of the season," he added.

"Of course, I am also happy when I receive individual awards like this one - so thank you."

"I just hope that we maintain our level. We know it is going to be difficult, but we will fight for every title, as we always do at this club."

Messi was chosen as the Goal 50 winner in 2009, 2011 and 2013 previously by editors and correspondents of 37 editions of Goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo came second, Luis Suarez was third and Neymar was fourth.
