Mateu Lahoz apologised to the Espanyol players at half time of their defeat to Barça

Not Espanyol; not Barça; not Messi; not Neymar; and not Luis Suarez. The protagonist in Saturday's Catalan derby was Mateu Lahoz, who is getting familiar with seeing his name in lights.

In Barcelona's 2-0 win over their city rival, he was a disaster on the pitch, although he was prepared to be honest with the Espanyol players off it.

According to 'Cadena COPE', Mateu Lahoz apologised to the home team's players in the tunnel before the start of the second half.

It seems he was admitting that in the build up to the second goal, which Messi scored, Luis Suarez was offside when he picked up Andres Iniesta's pass.

The scene took place outside the dressing rooms, with Mateu Lahoz admitting his mistake many times as the Espanyol players complained.

However, he did not apoligise to Jordi Alba for sending him off with little reeason for protesting. Nor to Hector Moreno, who was sent off in stoppage time for the same reason.

And television cameras have proved that all Alba said was: "Always the same, always me."
