Mascherano: My commitment to Barça is strong

Javier Mascherano passed through the mixed zone and confirmed that he hasn't thought about leaving Barcelona, where he is now fourth captain. "I know that there has been another team interested, but my commitment to Barça is unmovable. It always is and will be this way until the final day that I'm here," explained the Argentine midfielder.

The comments from 'El Jefecito' arrive after rumours from Italy that Juventus may have wanted the player as a replacement for the injured Khedira, who will be absent for two months.

On Wednesday, his representative Walter Tamer told Sport that Mascherano has no intention of leaving Barcelona: "He is very happy in Barcelona. Afterwards, if an offer from another club appears than we will transmit this to the club. And we will look at it as a result. No club have spoken with me and if they do I will invite them to first speak with Barça."

The agent added: "Everything depends on what intentions a club has with Javier. But currently he is very comfortable at Barcelona."

Mascherano spoke on how the team was getting on, after a 3-0 win over Roma: "The team came prepared. We can always be better, but we are doing well."
