Marc-Andre ter Stegen has improved, says Luis Enrique

Luis Enrique says Marc-Andre ter Stegen has improved while at Barcelona.

“It doesn’t have any influence that Ter Stegen’s back in his hometown. It will be nice for him, but there’s no need to change anything on our part,” said the Asturian coach, in a remarkably dry press conference.

“I would like to think that (Ter Stegen has the capacity to surprise me), that he’s improved. He now knows another language and is about to speak Catalan. In terms of football, his performances have improved and that’s the objective of any professional.”

Regarding Wednesday’s opponents Monchengladbach, he said: “Borussia are a complicated team to play, they’re well organised and press the ball high. They’re dangerous without the ball, but I would add to that that with the ball they know what they’re doing.

“They have quick, quality players in attack who score a lot of goals, although they’ve also conceded a few. We have to nullify their strengths and if we don’t we will suffer.”
