Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Javier Mascherano could play against Athletic Bilbao

Luis Enrique received a much-needed boost on Wednesday afer both Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Javier Mascherano returned to training at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As usual, Barça did not report on the recovery of the two players. However, a video posted on the club's official Snapchat showed how the German and Argentinian participated in the session.

Mascherano suffered a thigh muscle strain in the Spanish Super Cup second leg against Sevilla, while Ter Stegen suffered a knee injury.

With both players back in the squad, the question now is whether either of them will feature against Athletic Bilabo on Sunday.

Samuel Umtiti's strong performances in defence raise question marks on whether Mascherrano will simply get back into the team, while Claudio Bravo's transfer to Manchester City means Ter Stegen should resume his responsibilities this season.

And now, as a result, Ter Stegen is the undisputed choice as no.1 and has already been put in line for a new contract extension.
