An event at Bryant Park saw the construction of a huge Barcelona shirt

However, there were not enough people to beat the world record

Barcelona took over Manhattan on Saturday morning ahead of their International Champions Cup game against Juventus at the MetLife Stadium.

Around 4,000 people came together in Byant Park in a bid to create the largest ever human mosaic of a football shirt, although they just missed out on the record.

Barcelona supporters groups, members of their FCBEscolas in the United States, club president Josep Maria Bartomeu and former players Thierry Henry and Juliano Belletti were all present.

The mosaic was of Barça's new home shirt, featuring the new Rakuten logo and with the Unicef logo below.

In total, they had prepared around 5,000 cards for the mosaic and around 7,000 people had confirmed their attendance. However, in the end they did not reach their target.

Representatives from the Guinness Book of World Records counted the assistance one by one, making it 3,330. That was not enough to break the record, which is 4,200 from an event in Bagdad in 2015.
