Manchester United ask Yerry Mina to wait before making a decision

The English giants first choice is Leicester City's Harry Maguire but the high asking price means Mina remains on their wanted list

Yerry Mina's future could be resolved as soon as this week. There isn't a lot of time left because the transfer market in England closes on the 9th August, and that's where the majority of interested parties in Mina play. At the moment the Colombian international has an interesting proposition from Everton but that's been put on hold following Manchester United's arrival on the scene. Jose Mourinho has asked for a new centre back as he demands his squad is reinforced ahead of next season. Their first choice is Harry Maguire but Leicester City's high asking price means they have needed to search elsewhere and Mina is on that list of backups.

Manchester United have asked Barça about Mina's asking price despite negotiating with Maguire at the same time. However, Maguire won't force a move from Leicester and is waiting for the two clubs to reach an agreement. Leicester have so far rejected a €50m offer and insist it'd take at least €70m for a move to materialise.

If United's negotiations with the Foxes continue to stall then they'll move quickly to tie up a deal worth around €40m for Mina. Curiously, if United do reach an agreement with Leicester, then it'll be Jamie Vardy's team who launch a bid for Mina instead. The defender isn't ruling out any possible destinations at the moment but Everton would need to up their offer to closer to €40m if they don't want to lose out on Mina.
