Man Utd battling Barça for Fiorentina star Cuadrado

Juan Cuadrado's name is on everyone's lips. His future has been one of the topics of the summer and he has become one of the most desired players in Europe after his impressive World Cup with Colombia.

Barcelona want Cuadrado to strengthen their squad for next season, with the idea being that he would seamlessly take to Dani Alves' role in the side. Luis Enrique hopes to have him on board, while also hoping to be able to sign one more central defender too - Jerome Boateng, perhaps.

Cuadrado would like to come to Barça, too, and Fiorentina are prepared to sell, just not on the cheap.

MANCHESTER UNITED INTEREST

The latest twist in the Colombian's future comes in the form of Manchester United, who seem prepared to offer a salary which would bring Cuadrado in line with the world's top stars. Due to this, the player and his agent are looking for Barça to increase the wages currently on offer. If they are dedicated to completing the deal, the Catalans may have to improve Cuadrado's personal terms.

Cuadrado already knows Barcelona have prepared a €35million offer for Fiorentina, which has the capacity to increase with add ons. And, despite their efforts to keep him, the Italian club now believe they will have to sell the right-sided player this summer.

And apparently they are not desperate for the €50m, as reported, but would be prepared to accept a little less if it included performance related bonuses down the line.

The 26-year-old has confessed he wants to play for Barça. He has chosen the Catalan club and understands that leaving Fiorentina for Barcelona would be a huge step in his career. However, United's entrance to the scene has modified the negotiation criteria.

Cuadrado, if necessary is ready to put pressure on Fiorentina to force through a move to Barça, but, first of all, his agent needs to know if Barça are ready to offer similar terms to those on the table from the English club.

As of today, the offer from Louis van Gaal's side in the most beneficial for the player. United will offer Fiorentina €35, without variables, but will seduce the player with an enormous contract. Additionally, his agent, Alessandro Luccis, would earn a nice sum of money from the Red Devils operation.

Wednesday could prove an important day. Cuadrado and Lucci will meet with the president of Fiorentina, Andrea Della Valle. It will be then when the Colombian's future should take a definitive turn one way of another.

From afar, Barça will wait for news.

For good or for bad, Wednesday should offer some light into the future of Cuadrado, who may be forced to put pressure on the Italian club to ensure they accept an offer from Barcelona.
