Mahrez edges closer to a transfer within the Premier League

Riyad Mahrez is moving nearer to the exit door at Leicester City as rumours continue to surround the Algerian's future, with a fellow Premier League appearing to be his next destination.

The British press has reported the various proposals that have landed in the hands of the 25-year-old, who has decided not to accept the Foxes' contract extension offer. Interest shown by several Premier League clubs is making Mahrez's proposed move to Barça more difficult by the day.

According to the Daily Express, Chelsea are now preparing their next raid on Leicester to acquire the former Le Havre player in addition to N'Golo Kante's recent departure to Stamford Bridge for 38 million euros.

Leicester are also readying a six million euros net per season salary offer of their own in an attempt to keep hold of their star player.

Mahrez still also remains a possible addition for the Blaugrana this summer and the club's sporting director Robert Fernandez has seen him play on several occasions.

Barça, however, remain cautious and aware of the difficulties to tempt the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year away from the Premier League.
