Luis Suarez reveals how talks for new Barcelona contract are progressing

The Uruguayan forward has been speaking about the possibility of extending his stay at Camp Nou

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is in talks with the club about renewing his current contract, which expires in 2019. In an interview given to Sport890, Suarez, whose release clause is 200 million euros, has explained that talks are advanced. 

Suarez, who didn't say if he would end up finishing his career at Barça, said that "they're handling the renewal. It's really advanced and I can say it's on the right path. Both sides are in agreement and we're talking about a long deal." 

Luis Suarez was also asked about the European Golden Shoe and the party which followed with all the squad: "I invited everyone to a dinner, all my team-mates, the staff... It was a nice moment to enjoy to show my appreciation." 

On the delivery of his trophy, Luis Suarez indicated that he was the one who decided that his children would give him the trophy. "They proposed various options, but I wanted my kids to give me the Shoe. They let me choose and I did," the striker said.  

"This Golden Shoe has a very special significance, as my goals were able to help us win La Liga." 

Luis Suarez also spoke about the Uruaguay national team -- these were his phrases:
